Growth creates tax decisions. We own that side of them.

Growth keeps handing you choices with tax and financial consequences attached — entity, comp, equipment, exit — and nobody inside the business is watching that side of the ledger.

How we work

The questions our clients often ask

You’re a business owner, so you may relate to some of the questions our business-owner clients typically ask.

The structural question

S corp, or not yet?

The election saves payroll tax above a certain profit, and costs payroll administration, a separate return, and a defensible salary below it. The crossover is a number, not an opinion, and it moves as the business does. We keep it current rather than revisiting it once at formation.

What business owners ask us Example of how we might work through this

Am I paying myself reasonable compensation?

We start from what the role would cost to hire, not a rule of thumb, and build the file that supports it while the year is still open. Then we revisit it as profit changes, so the number is defensible rather than reconstructed under question.

Does a solo 401(k) make sense for me?

We walk through how it actually works — that you can contribute as employee and as employer, and what each does to this year's tax — then test it against cash flow and the other plans available to you. If it fits, we handle the administration that arrives later with it.

Can I deduct my health insurance?

We trace how the premium is paid. For an owner it only lands if it runs through payroll and onto the W-2, so we set that up during the year rather than discover it in March.

Should I buy the equipment this year?

We model the purchase in this year and next against your bracket and cash position, then pick the depreciation instrument that suits the answer. Sometimes the right answer is to wait.

What do I do with a loss year?

We work out how much can offset other income now and how much carries forward, then decide whether to pull income into the year or push it out around it.

How much will I owe, and when?

We project quarterly against actual results rather than last year's figures, so estimated payments are a plan you can budget for instead of a guess that trues up in April.

Whether or not there are children

Most planning quietly assumes children. Ours assumes nothing.

A great deal of standard advice is built around dependents, education funding, and leaving an estate to the next generation. If that is your life, those pieces belong in the plan. If it is not, the defaults are rarely what you would have chosen — beneficiary designations, powers of attorney, and who is actually named to act for you all need answering differently.

We ask, once, and then plan accordingly. It is not a separate service and it is not a separate conversation.

Your next step

Start with a conversation

A chance for us to learn about you and what you are trying to accomplish, and for you to hear how we work and what the process actually entails. Then we decide together whether it is a fit and whether we can handle the work. We look forward to hearing your story.
